Post-Tattoo Care in Kansas City: Dead Crown Tattoo's Ultimate Aftercare Guide

A fresh tattoo is akin to an open wound, deserving respect and attention to heal correctly. At Dead Crown Tattoo, our core advice is: less is more.

What to do for aftercare:

Cleaning: Use a gentle soap, like Dr. Bronners (Rose or Unscented), to wash the tattooed area with clean hands and warm water. A new tattoo will feel similar to a sunburn in the shower so refrain from hot water. Gently dab dry and let it air out.

Hydration: Hydrate the tattoo as needed to prevent tightness. We recommend our Reborn tattoo care or alternatives like cocoa butter or unscented, alcohol-free lotions. Avoid petroleum-based products for the initial days.

Signs of Infection: Stay vigilant. If your tattoo becomes unusually hot, increasingly red, or secretes abnormal fluids, it might be infected.

Activities to Avoid: Refrain from swimming, sunbathing, or intense physical activities that might affect the tattooed area. Do not submerge the tattoo. The healing process usually spans 2 weeks but can take longer depending on individual immune responses.

Sun Protection: After healing, apply sunscreen to protect the tattoo from harmful UV rays. Limiting sun exposure is always a good idea.
